2nd Geology Summer School Offered by Tabriz University
From September 19 to September 22, 2023, I had the incredible opportunity to attend the 2nd Geology Summer School at Tabriz University. This event was a deep dive into the fascinating fields of Tectonics, Sedimentology, and Paleontology, with a special focus on the Aras Geosite. The summer school brought together geology enthusiasts and experts, creating an enriching environment for learning and exploration.
The sessions were both informative and engaging, covering a wide range of topics from the intricate processes of tectonic movements to the detailed study of sedimentary layers and ancient fossils. Each lecture and field trip added a new layer of understanding to my knowledge of Earth Sciences.
One of the highlights of the summer school was our visit to the Gechi-Ghalasi Travertine Fountain. This natural wonder left us all in awe with its stunning array of colors, ranging from vibrant yellows to deep reds. The sight was truly mesmerizing, and it was fascinating to learn about the geological processes that created such a beautiful formation.
Another memorable experience was witnessing the rock falls in the area. The sheer scale and power of these natural events were both humbling and exhilarating. The views from the site were breathtaking, offering a perfect blend of rugged natural beauty and geological intrigue.
Overall, the Tabriz University 2nd Geology Summer School was an unforgettable experience. It not only expanded my academic horizons but also allowed me to connect with fellow geology enthusiasts and professionals. The combination of theoretical knowledge and hands-on fieldwork made this event a significant milestone in my journey as a geologist.
